The Be the Generation website was originally created to raise awareness of the urgent need for an effective, preventive HIV vaccine. It later expanded to include other biomedical prevention research strategies, namely microbicides and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). Our goal is provide accurate and relevant information about ongoing clinical research because the future success of HIV prevention research depends on the understanding, trust, support, and participation of all communities. Together, we can all be the generation to end the AIDS epidemic.

Why We Need More HIV Prevention Research

Finding safe and effective methods to prevent the spread of HIV is our best hope for stopping the AIDS epidemic. With more than 35 million people living with HIV and 2 million new infections worldwide in 2012, the need for research to develop and identify a combination of effective prevention approaches remains urgent.
